What is the Syrian
Virtual University?
On the 2nd
of September 2002 the Syrian Virtual University was inaugurated by President Bashar
Al Assad during in an official ceremony.
Initiating Virtual Education in the Middle-East, the SVU
was founded by the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education to provide
students with World-Class University Studies at home, in all the
professional sectors available today.
Vision Statement
Being the very first Arab institution of its kind, the
Syrian Virtual University has designed a Strategic Plan to meet immediate
needs, and build for future solid grounds:
SHORT TERM PLAN: Partnerships
Renowned international universities from the USA
and Europe have been selected according to their reputation,
accreditation and specializations availability to become SVU official
partners.
They are to offer the content, the tutoring and all the
services available to any of their own students, as well as their
Internationally-recognized degrees.
In addition, SVU provides the students with local Academic,
Cultural, Administrative and Technical support, that include academic
advising, tutoring, curriculum adaptation, counseling, career planning
and services, registration and payment, technical help desk, Internet
access and others.
The SVU also awards another degree which is fully
accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Syria.
LONG TERM PLAN:
SVU degrees
The Syrian Virtual
University is to design, manage and deliver full programs, in
collaboration with Syrian, Arab and International
partner-universities, which are of International standards, just like
the SVU partners’ degrees, but at more affordable costs, and most of
them are to be taught in Arabic.
By the end of
their studies, students will earn an SVU degree, fully accredited by
the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education.

The Syrian Virtual
University aims at providing Arab
students in the region and all over the world with Higher Education of
International standards, at home, within an integrated pedagogical
environment based on the latest technological developments.
