On the 16th of January 2004 all the SVU students in the UAE gathered for their first students’ activity in the region: a Desert Safari.

Fun and more fun were at the top of the program which started with an exciting Dune Drive in the 4x4 chauffeured by top drivers who turned the trip into a thrilling adventure in the sand until the Sand Ski destination was reached!

There, more and more laughter inflamed everyone when students started to slide on the sand for the first time! Attempt after attempt, remaining standing on the skis for the entire slide became a second nature to some of the courageous adventurers who dared to try again and again!

A shaky 4x4 ride headed then towards the second and final destination: The Camp.

Camel riding, henna designs, local costumes dressings, shishas and drinks filled the time that passed so quickly people did not notice dinner was ready. Delicious barbeques, salads and local food were offered at will before an authentic and beautiful closing for the evening by the talented belly dancer who insisted on teaching some of the audience members!

It was quiet on the way back home mostly because the day was so packed and electrifying but definitely because it was over too.
