Placement Test: A placement test is a set of multiple-choices and graded questions that examine the student's ability to read and understand English, as well as their knowledge in the language’s grammar, structures, and vocabulary. The following are the provisions for the procedure and approval of the results of the placement test for students of the Syrian Virtual University:

• The result of the placement test determines the student's English language level and then students enroll in the same term in one of the language levels offered by the program (each according to their score in the placement test).
• The validity of the placement examination for the registration of students of other programs at the language levels is limited to a maximum of two years.
• The validity of the level of the English language studied by the student is two years beginning from the term following the one in which the student completed this level.
• The student has the right to repeat the placement test even if are enrolled in one of the levels of the language. In case this happens, the result of the last test whatever it is shall be considered by the University.
• The validity of the last level in the English language studied by the student at the University is determined by two years when moving from one program to another. If more than two years have elapsed since the last level studied, the student must apply for a new placement test to enroll in the other program. The period of two years begins with the term following the student's graduation term from the previous program.
• A student may be allowed to enroll in more than one level of English in the graduation term with the exemption from the prerequisites of precedents.
• Students exempted from the requirements of English language restoration at the virtual university are the ones with the minimum grades of placement test or its equivalent grades in the international standard tests as shown in the table below:
